kɯːrə aiche, n. sheep [Gaelic]
Caorach was born out of two friends' mutual passion to produce sustainable 100% pasture fed lamb and mutton, and a desire to create the best organic sheepskins as well as beautifully woven cloth. These organically dyed fabrics, throws and accessories are produced from the soft creamy fleeces of the Dorsets and the natural colours of a small Shetland flock.
Rachel has a background in wool manufacturing and textile design, she has always loved sheep and wool products and is totally committed to regenerative farming. Kate is from a Dorset family of herbalists and drovers, who can be traced back to the16th century. She studied herbal medicine, as well as sustainable food and fashion production, and is an experienced shepherdess. She has been passionate about wool from an early age.
Set in the beautiful Dorset countryside the grass fed Caorach flock of native Dorset sheep and a few Shetlands, graze species rich pasture. We farm with the health of the sheep, the soil and biodiversity in mind.
